KALONGO, AGAGO DISTRICT
A businessman identified as Mr. Ocana Morris has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in a brazen attack along Market Street in Kalongo Town Council, in the northern Uganda district of Agago, this evening.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened in the early evening hours when armed assailants approached the businessman, opened fire, and fled the scene under unclear circumstances. The sudden gunfire caused panic among traders and residents in the busy market area, with many scrambling for safety.
Security personnel were later seen cordoning off parts of Market Street as investigations into the attack began. The motive remains unclear, and authorities have not yet publicly identified the attackers.
Local sources indicate that Mr. Ocana Morris was a well-known trader in the area, though details surrounding possible threats or prior incidents remain unconfirmed.
Police are expected to issue a formal statement as investigations continue into what is suspected to be a targeted killing in one of the town council's busiest commercial zones.
