As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) gears up for its primary elections for parliamentary and LCV Chairperson positions, party officials and local leaders have urged aspirants to strictly adhere to the official campaign roadmap. William Katsigazi Donanto, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Bushenyi District, emphasized that the NRM Secretariat has released a harmonized campaign program requiring all candidates to conduct joint rallies. He warned that any deviation from the roadmap would not be tolerated.
"We expect all candidates to move together and campaign jointly in designated areas. This promotes unity and reduces unnecessary friction," Katsigazi told journalists yesterday.

He also cautioned aspirants against using President Yoweri Museveni’s name or state resources to gain an unfair political advantage, stressing that the President belongs to all NRM members.
"No one should present themselves as closer to the President than others. All aspirants are equal under the party and must compete fairly," he said.

Katsigazi further warned against inciting violence or intimidating opponents, adding that security agencies are on high alert to prevent any electoral malpractice.
"Security is ready to maintain peace throughout the 14-day campaign period. Anyone found inciting violence will face the law," he said.

The 14-day campaign period officially begins today and will see all NRM candidates for Member of Parliament and LCV Chairperson positions campaigning together in joint meetings across Bushenyi District.

Kenan Muhangi, the Assistant NRM Registrar for Bushenyi District, confirmed that the district is fully prepared for the campaign exercise, pending final confirmation of the harmonized movement schedule.
"Our office is ready. Once we receive the detailed roadmap from the NRM Secretariat, we will begin facilitating the campaign activities immediately," he said.

Muhangi called on all aspirants to maintain discipline and demonstrate political maturity throughout the process. "These are internal party elections. After the primaries, we must unite and support whoever wins so that we remain strong heading into the 2026 general elections," he added.
Bushenyi District has attracted a high number of aspirants under the NRM ticket, especially for parliamentary positions.
