Da Agent Continues to Champion the Lugaflo Sound

Da Agent

In Uganda's hip-hop circles, Da Agent has built a reputation that few rappers can easily match. From his fast-paced delivery to his deep commitment to Lugaflo music, the rapper has spent years carving out a unique place for himself in the industry.

Born Ivan Wabwire and raised in Bwaise, Da Agent started out like many Kampala rappers—freestyling at school and around his neighbourhood before eventually pursuing music professionally. By 2015, he had officially joined the music industry, and it did not take long for audiences to notice his remarkable speed and lyrical delivery on the mic.

His style, popularly referred to by fans as "Lugaflo Lufula," blends Luganda with hip-hop in a way that feels raw, energetic, and distinctly Ugandan. Songs such as Njukunju, Baliwa, Ngalo Ngalo, One Day, and Bamungamba helped him evolve from an underground rapper into one of the most recognizable names in Lugaflo.

At a time when many artists were shifting towards Afrobeat and dancehall, Da Agent remained committed to rap, earning him respect among hip-hop enthusiasts and fellow artists alike.

His efforts have also been recognised at several award ceremonies. In 2016, he won Best LugaFlow/Rap Song at the Zzina Awards. A year later, he received the Best LugaFlow/Rap Artist award and successfully retained the title in 2018. In 2017, he was also named Central Rapper of the Year at the UG Hip Hop Awards and earned recognition in the Teeniez Hood Rapper category at the Buzz Teeniez Awards.

Beyond the awards, Da Agent has consistently spoken about his pride in promoting Buganda's culture through music. He has performed at events attended by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and has been widely praised for using Lugaflo to preserve and promote local identity within Uganda's contemporary hip-hop scene.

The rapper continues to release music independently through his DA AGENT OFFICIAL YouTube channel, where fans regularly follow his latest songs, videos, and projects.

Even as a new generation of artists continues to emerge on Uganda's rap scene, Da Agent remains one of the few musicians still strongly identified with authentic Lugaflo. For his fans, that consistency is one of the key reasons he continues to remain relevant in Uganda's ever-evolving music industry.
