A joint security team comprising police, the military, and local vigilantes on night patrol in Kireka Biira has arrested two men for alleged possession of a dangerous weapon.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were intercepted at around 2:00am on Wednesday near the Oilcom petrol station.
During the operation, officers apprehended Lumu Jovan, who was found with a newly purchased sharp panga. Upon interrogation, Lumu revealed that he had travelled to the area with two unidentified accomplices on a motorcycle ridden by Mawanda Nicholas Kasozi from Nansana to Kireka Biira.

The motorcycle, registration number UMA 201DQ, reportedly developed a flat tyre, forcing the rider to stop for repairs. Security personnel later traced and arrested Mawanda, together with the motorcycle, which is now being held as an exhibit. Both suspects were detained at Bulenga Police Station and are facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the other individuals allegedly involved.

Police say the recovered panga and motorcycle will undergo further forensic examination as part of the ongoing inquiries. Security patrols in the area have since been intensified as authorities move to curb criminal activities, especially those linked to late-night movements.
