Five people have been confirmed dead, and 21 others sustained injuries following a tragic road crash that occurred last night, March 5, 2025, at Mayanja Valley along the Kampala-Bombo Road.
The crash involved nine motor vehicles—UBQ 745N (Toyota Noah), UAY 704B (Toyota Hiace), UAT 652K (Toyota Hiace), UBK 769A (Fuso Super Grande), UBD 829G (Toyota Hiace), UAL 333C (Toyota Corolla), UAV 026F (Toyota Hiace), UBQ 062B (Toyota Sienta), and UBD 483N (Toyota Hiace)—as well as one motorcycle (UES 773K Yamaha).

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the UBK 769A Fuso Super Grande, traveling from Kampala to Bombo, lost control while descending at Mayanja Valley. This resulted in a multiple-vehicle collision with nine cars and one motorcycle traveling in the same direction.
The crash claimed the lives of five occupants from the affected vehicles, including the motorcycle rider, while 21 passengers in the Toyota Hiaces suffered injuries. The injured victims were rushed to Mulago Hospital for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have since towed the involved vehicles to Kawempe Police Station for inspection as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
Motorists are urged to prioritize road safety by ensuring vehicle maintenance, adhering to speed limits, and practicing defensive driving to prevent such tragic incidents.
