Security agencies have successfully recovered a six-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by a shamba boy in Kampala earlier this month.
The child, identified as Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, was reportedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, from Kawempe Division, Kampala, and later recovered from Busukuma in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, on December 19, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m.

According to police, the child is the son of Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel.
Preliminary investigations indicate that on December 12, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., the suspect, identified as Muchunguzi David, who was employed as a shamba boy by the child’s father, left with the boy from Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, to an unknown destination and failed to return.
“A case of kidnapping was immediately reported at Universal Police Post, prompting security agencies to launch search and rescue operations,” police said.

Uganda Police Assistant Spokesperson Rachel Kawala confirmed the recovery, attributing the breakthrough to intelligence-led investigations.
“Through analysis of the suspect’s TikTok videos and coordinated intelligence work, security agencies were able to trace the child’s location and successfully rescue him from Busukuma in Nansana Municipality,” Kawala said.

She added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who remains on the run.
“The suspect is still at large, and security agencies are actively pursuing him. We appeal to the public to share any information that may lead to his arrest,” Kawala noted.

Police further revealed that the child will be reunited with his parents after undergoing a medical examination to ascertain his health condition.
“The child will be handed over to his parents after a medical assessment, as investigations into the matter continue,” Kawala said.
