The national U17 men’s football team head coach, Layrea Kingston, has made one change to his starting lineup as the Uganda Cubs take on rivals Tanzania in a high-stakes TotalEnergies U17 CECAFA Region Qualifiers Group B encounter at Dire Dawa Stadium this evening. The Ghanaian tactician had maintained the same starting XI in the previous 4–0 and 9–0 victories over Burundi and Sudan. However, today he introduces a single adjustment.
Trevor Mubiru replaces Shakur Ngobi at right back, marking the first time all three team captains—Owen Mukisa, Ismail Fahad, and Mubiru—start together. Mubiru did not start in the previous two matches and only featured for 30 minutes in the 9–0 demolition of Sudan, coming on for Shakur.

The rest of the squad remains unchanged, with Kingston retaining Ashiraf Lukyamuzi in goal, Eze Kombi at left back, and the central defensive pairing of Ibrahim Waita and Enock Mwesigwa.
Impressive midfielder Henry Muhoozi keeps his holding role, while the energetic Thomas Ogema and captain Owen Mukisa will drive play from the midfield.
Nickolas Kawooya maintains his position on the left wing, Lorian Lwesibawa operates from the right, and Ismail Fahad leads the attack.
Uganda trails Tanzania on goal difference going into this tie. Tanzania boasts a 17-goal difference after an 11–0 routing of Djibouti, compared to Uganda’s 13.
The winner of today’s encounter will secure top spot in Group B ahead of the semifinal fixtures against Group A teams in Addis Ababa.
