Western Rugby Final – Saturday
Women:
Buddu Cuppas vs Fort Portal Pumas
Men:
KIU Crowz vs Fort Portal Tytans
The Western Rugby Championship reaches its climax this Saturday with the men’s and women’s finals set to take place in Mbarara. In the men’s final, KIU Crowz will be aiming for their third title in the ten-year-old competition as they face off against the Fort Portal Tytans.
Both teams topped their respective groups during the preliminary rounds and powered past their opponents in the semifinals to book a spot in today’s showdown. While the Tytans are chasing their first-ever title and a taste of podium glory, the university side KIU Crowz are no strangers to victory, having previously lifted the trophy in 2016 and 2017.
In the women’s category, Buddu Cuppas will take on Fort Portal Pumas in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. This is the second year of the women’s competition, and the rivalry is heating up.
The 2024 champions, Kigezi Queens, failed to defend their title after falling short of reaching this year’s final.--
According to the Uganda Rugby Union promotional framework, the winners from the Western Region will face the Central Region champions on May 17 for a spot in the national Premier League.
