Popular Ugandan child content creator, Teng Teng, and his father have publicly accused his former manager of allegedly seizing control of his YouTube channel and under-declaring its massive earnings.
In an emotional interview, the family revealed that the former manager has taken full ownership of the channel, which boasts over 4 million subscribers and attracts millions of views globally. They claim the manager has only been remitting about USD 100 (roughly UGX 360,000) to the family, despite the channel generating significantly higher revenue. Teng Teng’s father expressed deep concern over what he described as exploitation of his young son, saying the family is now seeking urgent legal and technical intervention to regain control of the channel.

A Rising Global Star
Teng Teng is one of Uganda’s most successful young digital creators. He has built a huge international following, with his content resonating across Africa and beyond. His popularity earned him official merchandise sold on a dedicated website, and Snapchat once created a custom filter featuring his face.
In a major boost to his profile, global streaming sensation IShowSpeed collaborated with Teng Teng during his recent African tour, further cementing the young Ugandan’s rising international influence.

Allegations of Exploitation
According to the family, the former manager, who was entrusted with handling the channel’s operations, allegedly changed ownership details and restricted the family’s access. They suspect substantial earnings from ads, sponsorships, and merchandise have not been properly accounted for.
“This is not just about money. It’s about my son’s future and hard work being taken away,” the father reportedly said during the interview. The family is now appealing for support from relevant authorities, digital rights organizations, and legal experts to help them recover the channel and ensure a transparent audit of its earnings.
This case has sparked conversations online about the vulnerability of young content creators in Uganda and the need for better protection mechanisms for child influencers in the fast-growing digital economy.
The former manager is yet to issue a public statement regarding the allegations.
