Entebbe
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially received his South Sudanese counterpart, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, at State House Entebbe. The South Sudanese leader arrived with a high-level delegation ahead of tomorrow’s swearing-in ceremony.
In a warm message, President Museveni described President Kiir as “my brother” and extended a hearty welcome to him and his delegation.
“I have received my brother, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, at State House Entebbe together with his delegation, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow,” Museveni said.
“I warmly welcome him and wish him a fruitful stay as we continue to strengthen the historic brotherly ties and cooperation between our two countries.”
The visit underscores the close bilateral relationship between Uganda and South Sudan, two nations with deep historical, cultural, and economic links. Both countries have cooperated closely on trade, security, and regional stability in the East African region.
President Kiir’s presence at the swearing-in ceremony is expected to further reinforce diplomatic ties between Kampala and Juba.
