Rines SS from Wakiso became the new champions of Uganda secondary schools girls' football after beating Isingiro's Boni Consilii Girls Kyabirukwa 3-0 in the final played at Wakisha Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

The event, which had been halted at the semifinal stage in the championship held at Seroma in May due to school team players' international engagements with the national U20 and U17 teams, was rescheduled, with the semifinals having been played yesterday at the same venue.

Having seen off Amus College 3-0 on penalties, Rines entered today's final against first-timers Boni Consilii, who reached their first-ever final following a 3-2 penalty shootout victory over last year's winners, St Noa, also in the semis yesterday.

Patricia Nakato's penalty in added time of the first half opened the doors for the new champions. When Trina Nakawuki and eventual MVP Justine Ayerango slotted home in the second half, it was all but finished business for the Wakiso district champions.

The four teams — Rines, Boni Consilii, St Noa, and Amus College — qualified to represent Uganda at the FEASSA Games, scheduled for 12–23 August in Morogoro, Tanzania.
